What started as a hobby and a way to keep my mind stimulated has now turned into my own small business and passion.

In September of 2023 I found myself often bored with very little motivation. I didn't like being unproductive. So I looked into candle making. I made candles for the first time not realising there was a science behind it. I melted some wax, threw in whatever amount of fragrance oil, and away we go. needless to say - It didn't burn properly or stay lit.

I then did further research online and discovered candle making is an art that involves lots of testing. Testing difference waxes, testing different wicks, testing different containers, testing different fragrances and load percentages - but I didn't let that deter me.

I tested. I researched. I tested some more. And researched some more.

I spent my first year of candle making primarily testing, researching and adjusting my ingredients so that I could achieve the products I was set on. During this time I was using the brand name "Candles by Dayle". I had close friends and family members who were able to burn my candles and provide me with great constructive feedback to help me better improve my candle making skills.

By February of 2024 I decided I was finally happy with my products and that it was time to open up my brand to a wider audience under the name ScentFicks. The main reason behind the brand name change was because I knew I wanted to make more than only candles in the future, and I wanted a brand name that would better reflect that.

Jumping ahead to August of 2025, ScentFicks welcomed new products to the shop - Kawakawa Balms, Lip Balms and Exfoliating Sugar Body Scrubs. I was so excited that we were finally able to offer not only more variety, but more gentle and natural options to our beloved customers.

It's been an amazing 2 year journey so far and I look forward to the future.
